I gotta say, this was taken from skimag.com and I was getting towards the end of these 10 and was worrying about my favorite Crested Butte not making it on the page! But then, BAM, day saved. If anything, I should probably be DELETING this message as fast as I type it, and not giving this mountain any more popularity and credibility than it already has. I recently passed through CB on a drive back from Phoenix. The night was spent bar hopping and mingling with the unique crowd of locals they have there, building up all the necessary toxins and requirements for a kick ass hangover in the morning. When I woke up, I rolled off the bench seat of my F150, and crawled out of my sleeping bag into a world of bluebird skies, a bright sunshine silhouetting the steep and deep agenda for the day, and white, clean powder, EVERYWHERE. The summit had been opened for the first day all season, and my morning was spent on waist deep fresh tracks, flying through the air off anything my heart could desire. When the snow is that deep, it’s just f*ck it and huck it, and love every minute of it! The snow was unreal, the views were gorgeous, and the lifts were half empty. I can’t say it gets any better than that.
