Heli Skiing Avalanche Kills Telluride Local

Image

This year’s slew of avalanches have claimed yet another life yesterday, Tuesday March 14th.  Rob Limberman was heli skiing north of Haines, Alaska, when he was taken and killed in an avalanche.  The 35 year old Telluride local had a passion for family and friends, and along with being a partner of DPS skis shared the same enthusiasm for his love of powder.

Stephen Drake, founder of DPS skis was quoted in an interview with PowderMag saying:

“Shortly after meeting Rob, I was riding an early morning chair with him in Las Leñas. There had been about a meter of new overnight. It was stable, the skies were totally blue, and the snow was glistening diamonds. All of sudden, I looked over and saw Rob violently dry heaving off the side of the chair. Alarmed, I asked him if he was alright. He responded, ‘Oh yeah, no problem…When it’s this good, I just get really excited.”
